INITIAL REGISTRATION OF OVERSEAS NURSES PROGRAM

Please note that applicants for the 2009 programs are now finalised and the information below relates to 2010 programs. Applicants are encouraged to apply for programs early to avoid disappointment.

Initial Registration of Overseas Nurses Program is a Nurses Board of Victoria (NBV) accredited program for nurses who have been requested by the NBV to undertake a preregistration program. Castlemaine Health currently undertakes these programs three times per calendar year in conjunction with the Return to Practice Program. Prospective participants must contact the NBV prior to applying for this program and have an assessment letter from the NBV deeming them suitable for participation. RETURN TO PRACTICE PROGRAM

Please note that applicants for the 2009 programs are now finalised and the information below relates to 2010 programs. Applicants are encouraged to apply for programs early to avoid disappointment.

Castlemaine Health is accredited by the Nurses Board of Victoria to undertake Return to Practice Programs for nurses who are re-entering the workforce and are required by the NBV to undertake a formal program. Prospective participants must contact the NBV prior to applying for this program and have an assessment letter from the NBV deeming them suitable for this program. GRADUATE PROGRAM

Castlemaine Health offers a comprehensive Graduate Nurse Program combining rotations through our acute unit, rehabilitation unit and aged care units. The program also includes short supernumerary placements in Theatre and District Nursing. Four positions are offered annually for newly graduated Division 1 Registered Nurses, and applications are accepted through the computer match service. CLINICAL PLACEMENTS

Clinical Placements are undertaken by students in the following areas: Medical, Nursing, Allied Health, Cert IV in Health/Aged Care, Cert V in Nursing, and in a variety of other areas by special arrangement.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Castlemaine Health offers a range of Work Experience placements for Year 10 students. Placements are available in the following areas: Nursing and Personal Care, Pharmacy, Hospitality and Food Services, Allied Health, Administration, Public Relations, Information Technology, Engineering and Maintenance including Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry and Gardening.

EDUCATIONAL FACILITIES

Castlemaine Health has a variety of educational facilities available which can be utilised by external organisations. A variety of rooms, equipment and catering is available to suit most needs.
