Our Catering Department also caters for functions including Corporate Seminars, Parties, Christmas Dinners and other private social functions. Clients have the option of having our services delivered at their venue or can choose to hire one of our three well equipped function rooms at Mt Alexander Hospital. In addition to all of our cooks being trade qualified, all other Food Services personnel undertake various forms of training to ensure they are proficient in their particular area of expertise. Each staff member participates in our food safety program to ensure compliance with food safety.
From time to time theme days add variety and fun to our meals, these include Christmas in Winter, Melbourne Cup Day and AFL Grand Final Day in accordance with the revised "Food Act 1984 and under goes regular auditing to ensure compliance with the hospitals food safety plan.
Currently our laundry processes over 4.5 tonne of linen each week and in addition to providing laundry facilities for Mt Alexander & Maldon Hospitals, we offer a linen service to outside clients/organizations including Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Motels, Restaurants and Bed & Breakfast establishments. We can offer a pick up and delivery service and can meet all customer requirements.

Over 1000 meals are produced each day from our purpose built cook chill commercial kitchen facilities. We have a four-week menu cycle for patients and aged care residents, which compiles with individual dietary requirements. Our menu provides seasonal variety and allows residents to order ahead rather than on a day-to-day basis. Residents may change their preference at any time by notifying the Meal Monitor or Ward Clerk. We also provide approximately 2400 meals to the Mount Alexander Shire for the Home Delivered Meal Service.
Our busy team of cleaning staff service over 12,000 sq metres of building space. All cleaning staff are fully trained in all aspects of hospital cleaning procedures to ensure our patients and residents are housed in clean and aesthetically appealing surroundings. Our staff also takes pride in ensuring our Consulting Clinics and Operating Suites are maintained to an extremely high standard to minimise the risks of cross infection. Our hospital undergoes an external cleaning audit annually in accordance with the Victorian Hospital Cleaning Standards and has successfully passed all auditing procedures since its introduction.
